Núcleo de Arte da Oliva is proud to present the exhibition Apichatpong Weerasethakul: The Serenity of Madness, a retrospective of one of the world’s leading independent filmmakers and artists. Apichatpong Weerasethakul has won international acclaim since the early 2000s, and more notably after he won the Palme d’Or in the Cannes Film Festival in 2010. However, few have experienced his extensive body of contemporary artwork beyond his feature films. The exhibition comprises more than 20 artworks ranging across media from film, video installation, photography and print, created between 1994 and 2017. The exhibition of these works made before and during his feature film productions offers us rare insights into Weerasethakul’s unique creative process, yielding a rich dialogue with his cinematic work.

Apichatpong Weerasethakul: The Serenity of Madness is a traveling exhibition curated by Gridthiya Gaweewong and produced by Independent Curators International (ICI), New York.
